Budget Spreadsheet Help Notes

 

This spreadsheet has been preformatted with the formulas needed to calculate what your bank balance will be in the coming weeks as a result of the deposits and withdrawals.

Is is very important that you do not enter any details in the cells within the darker borders.

If you do mess things up, close the file down without saving the changes and try again. It may be worth saving an extra copy such as My Budget 2 so you have something to fall back on if necessary.

The cells within the spreadsheet will contain the answers you require as you enter the necessary figures. The steps are as follows. It is suggested that you do this say for the next 4 weeks to start with until you get the idea.

1. Enter you current bank balance (Cell B4)

2. Enter the income you expect to receive over the next few weeks. If you receive income from more than one source, this will be added up for you. As you do this you will see the cells change throughout the sheet.

3. Now put in the known expenses item by item and week by week. If you are trying to spend more than you earn, a minus figure will show for that week.

4. You can type in extra information into the left hand column such as Bank Loan, TV repayment or whatever.

 

Be sure to allow for bank charges in the week they occurr since a $15-$20 debit can throw out your plans.
